HISTORY
The
Waltham Track Club was started in the summer of 1976 and became
an officially registered club in April of 1977. Initially an all
female program, a youth program for boys and girls was added in
1978 and a men's and master's program a year later. By the mid
1980's, the club had become one of the most diversified programs
in New England, with more than 300 members between the ages of
8-60 and encompassing all aspects of the sport from track and
field to race-walking to road racing to marathon racing.
The club has won numerous N.E. Outdoor Track and Field titles,
has twice finished second in the N.E. Grand Prix Race Series and
led the way in the master's movement by initiating an annual master's
track and field competition. At the youth level, our cross-country
program has won two national titles, numerous N.E. and Regional
Jr. Olympic titles and produced one individual national champion.
In track and field, we have consistently qualified members for
Regional and National Championships and have tremendous success
in the development of high school athletes from around the state.
Currently, the Club's main focused is on developing its Women's
Open Team and its Youth Program.
