GENERAL INFORMATION
The Waltham Track Club is an officially registered
club with the U.S. Track and Field Association (the national governing
body for the sport of running). The Club is a program designed
to offer instruction and competition in track and field, cross-country,
road racing and marathon running. Club programs are open to participants
of all abilities from in and around the Waltham area (you do not
have to be a Waltham resident to become a member). There are no
tryouts or talent requirements. Beginners are welcome! The Club's
philosophy for all participants, regardless of ability, is to
emphasize individual achievement, - on being the best that one
can, rather than on just trying to be the best.
There are currently two divisions of the Waltham Track Club: a youth
program, open to boys and girls, ages 8-14 and an open/masters
program for females, ages 15 and older. The youth track and field
program is held in the from April through July and an indoor program
from December through February. A youth cross-country program
is offered in the fall. The open/masters program is conducted
year round.
Most Club activities are held at the J.Lee Gould Track and Field
Facility located at Leary Field, Bacon St., Waltham, MA. Cross-country
training is held on the Waltham High School home cross-country
course at Waltham High School on Lexington St. Our
indoor track program is held at the Kennedy Middle School on Lexington
St.
The Club competes in events sanctioned
by the United States Track and Field Association at the local,
regional and national levels. Allmembers are
encouraged to become offcial members of the USATFNE Association,
as well (see www.usatfne.org).
