Below are some videos covering various events that we will be coaching during the upcoming Spring Program.  Some of these videos are basic and others a bit more technical.  The intent of these videos is just to give you a general feel for the various events, so don’t get too bogged down with trying to learn various technical components.  Just watch and enjoy.  We will cover the components of each event that you need to know in upcoming coaching classes.

Sprint Starts

Down Starts “Crouch Start” - Power foot is forward. The base set up has the power foot a foot-length and half to two foot-length back from the start. The knee of the coordinated leg is placed on the track next to the arch of the power foot. Hands are placed on the start line with thumbs facing in. The first four steps are “PUSH PUSH PUSH PUSH” and then in the upright position.

STARTING DOWN FOR SPRINTS – most of these sprint start videos involve the use of a starting block, which our youth members will not be using, but the general technique is the same with or without blocks.
