YOUTH
TEAM SHINES AT NORTHEAST CLASSIC
- OUR YOUTH TEAM HAD ANOTHER IMPRESSIVE SHOWING
AT THIS YEARS NORTHEAST INDOOR TRACK & FIELD CLASSIC, HELD
AT THE REGGIE LEWIS CENTER. WE HAD SOME TREMENDOUS PERSONAL
RECORDS AMONG ALL OF OUR AGE GROUPS AND WE DISPLAYED A GREAT COMPETITIVE
SPIRIT THROUGHOUT THE MEET. TEAM SPIRIT AND SUPPORT WAS
INSPIRING. WE HAD MORE THAN 110 TOP 6 SCORERS AMONG
ALL OF THE EVENTS, HELPING US TO SCORE WELL OVER 600 POINTS -
JUST A GREAT TEAM EFFORT!!
WE
FINISHED 2ND AS A TEAM, JUST 14 POINTS BEHIND THE FIRST PLACE
TEAM (THE FAST FEET TC FROM WASHINGTON DC). CONSIDERING
THAT ONLY TWO THIRDS OF OUR TEAM COMPETED, ALONG WITH
THE FACT THAT WE DIDN'T ENTER ANY HIGH SCHOOL AGE 15-16 YEAR
OLDS, I'D SAY THAT OUR SHOWING WAS QUITE IMPRESSIVE. HAD
OUR ENTIRE TEAM PARTICIPATED, WE WOULD HAVE EASILY REPEATED AS
TEAM CHAMPIONS.

status with 13th and 22nd overall finishes. They were 7th

SPECIAL
CLUB FUND RAISING - RACE VOLUNTEERS - many THANKS to the
seventy plus volunteers who worked our fall fund raising road
races this fall, which included the Ollie Race, Marine Race, Carson
Beach Race and the Tufts 10, helping our Club raise close to $2000.
SPECIAL THANKS to youth parent and open team member, Emer O'Donoghue,
for all of her efforts to coordinate this fund raising endeavor.
In addition to raising funds, volunteers had tons of fun, got
free shirts and enjoyed lots of free food and drink.
Our
next major event will be the Corporate Challenge 5K on June 24
at the Boston Common. Volunteers may begin signing up with
Emer right now - emerodono@msn.com. We will be looking for
100+ volunteers, so start recruiting and sign up early.
THE BIGGEST ISSUE THIS FALL WAS THAT MANY VOLUNTEERS WAITED TOO
LATE TO SIGN UP AND THEN MISSED OUT BECAUSE SPOTS HAD BEEN FILLED.
WE COULD HAVE EASILY HAVE HAD MORE THAN 100 VOLUNTEERS AT THE
TUFTS RACE, BUT HAD TO TURN AWAY MORE THAN 60 VOLUNTEERS.
WE HAVE TO COMMIT TO RACE DIRECTORS WEEKS IN ADVANCE AS TO HOW
MANY VOLUNTEERS WE WILL PROVIDE. SO PLEASE SIGN UP EARLY
- THANKS!!
